Turkey has been a Party to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) since March 31, 2005. Under Law No. 4037, the tobacco industry is required to periodically submit information on tobacco production and manufacture. However, this does not include providing information on marketing. Other activities, including lobbying, philanthropy and political contributions are prohibited. Despite this, the tobacco industry is able to access senior government officials through awards presentation ceremonies and continue to enjoy investment incentives.
