Jordan has been a Party to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) since February 27, 2005. Tobacco control is enshrined in Public Health Law No. 47 of 2008, Chapter 12, however full implementation of the law has been postponed due to lobbying of industry front groups. Tobacco companies and their front groups also participate in policymaking bodies, such as the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization and the National Joint Committee of the Government of Jordan, and tobacco companies enjoy government support and endorsement of their corporate social responsibility activities.
